Before taking out the main air filter box, I have to remove this replacement coil. Oddly, it is a 12v unit which appears to be from a car. I'm guessing at one time it must have worked because somebody went to a bit of trouble fitting it and it IS wired up correctly.
As you can see, a bracket was made for the new coil and that was attached to the rear of the toolbox unit via two bolts. It has to come off.
The original coil however, is still where it should be.
This is how your scooter should appear on this side of the frame (minus the two holes where the odd coil bracket was fitted).
Notice there is no battery or battery tray on this model. This Lambretta was built for use on Italian roads and as such, there was no need for a battery to be fitted as, unlike in the UK at the time, a parking light, fed from the battery, was not a legal requirement.
